The CAOA is committed to helping you reach your officiating goals through training, development, and involvement. We offer training in Football, Basketball, and Boys Lacrosse.


Become a Member

Your first step is to register with the Michigan High School Athletic Association.  The MHSAA web site is  You can complete the registration process on their web site.


2020-21 CAOA Registration

Registration for the 2020-2021 CAOA is now open.

Registration is a two step process. Please make sure to complete both steps in order to secure your membership.

Regular or Full Time Student

All renewal memberships should be registered before September 15, 2020.  Any renewals after that date will be considered late. An late fee of $35.00 will be added. Please renew your membership before the cutoff date. New members can register at any time with no penalty. Ater Sept. 15, new members will be charged the late fee initially and then refunded.


Membership dues are $60, paid on a yearly basis, September 1st through August 31st. Any dues NOT paid before Sept. 15 will require an additional $35 late fee.

Member in Good Standing

To establish and maintain your status as a member in good standing (MIGS), which is required by the MHSAA to officiate state playoff contests, you must meet the following requirements:

1. Dues must be paid for current officiating year (September 1 to August 31).

2. Four (4) Member in Good Standing (MIGS) Points must have been earned in the previous officiating year in order to be in good standing.

3. A minimum of two (2) MIGS Points must be earned by attending CAOA meetings.

4. A maximum of two (2) MIGS Points may be earned by accumulating “bonus points”. Bonus points consist of attending CAOA scrimmages, attending the CAOA Banquet, attending other CAOA sponsored events, mentoring a new official, etc. Bonus Points must be approved by the CAOA President and the specific sport director.

5. New CAOA members who earned good standing with an alternate (non CAOA) MHSAA Approved Association will be considered in good standing provided that the member can provide corroboration from his/her previous association.
